Our Lady of Guadalupe

Retablos

Retablos are a traditional Spanish religious art form brought to New Mexico and other Spanish colonies through Spanish Colonization. They depict saints are displayed in houses and churches. I grew up surrounded by these saint depictions, and these are a modern take of them. Using laser-cut wood to depict two saints close to the heart of womanhood- St. Agnes (the protector of young girls) and Our Lady of Guadalupe.
